5 Different Issues
Rial-to-Toman Transition
UNC
Included Pick references: Pick 159, Pick 162,
Pick 163, Pick 164 and Pick 165.
Included full values: 10,000, 50,000, 100,000,
500,000 and 1,000,000 Rials.
Transitional values included: 5, 10, 50 and
100 Tomans. The 10,000-Rial Pick 159 note is a conventional Rial issue
and should not be catalogued as the later 1-Toman Pick 160 note.
Each note occupies a separate catalogue position. Denomination, Pick
number, design and transitional status should be recorded together rather
than identifying the notes from their numerical values alone.
Issue period: The Pick 159 series includes varieties
associated with 2017, 2018 and 2019. The set is described using the
applicable stock variety shown in the product images.
Obverse: Portrait of Ruhollah Khomeini.
Reverse: Hafez memorial complex in Shiraz.
Collection role: Establishes the pre-transition
starting point. This note does not carry the later Pick 160
1-Toman format.
Issue period: Initially associated with 2021, with
additional signature varieties produced afterward.
Obverse: Portrait of Ruhollah Khomeini with modern
security and background elements.
Reverse: Tomb of Hafez in Shiraz.
Collection role: First dual-denomination note in this
product and the first example of a shortened Toman value.
Issue period: Introduced in 2021, with later signature
combinations continuing the same broad Pick type.
Obverse: Portrait of Ruhollah Khomeini.
Reverse: Tomb of Saadi in Shiraz with an English
excerpt associated with Saadi’s writing.
Collection role: Continues the reduced-value sequence
from 5 to 10 Tomans while doubling the full Rial denomination.
Issue period: The Pick 164 type is associated with
varieties from 2018 onward.
Obverse: Dome and architectural elements of the
Imam Reza Shrine complex in Mashhad.
Reverse: Mount Damavand.
Collection role: Introduces the larger Iran Cheque
format and creates a direct step from 10 to 50 Tomans.
Issue period: The Pick 165 type is associated with
2020–2022 signature varieties rather than one fixed calendar year.
Obverse: Tachara Palace at Persepolis.
Reverse: South Pars gas field.
Collection role: Highest denomination in the set and
the final 100-Toman position in this five-note progression.
The Iran transitional five banknotes are offered in
UNC (Uncirculated) condition. This designation applies
to unused examples without circulation folds, writing, stains or general
handling wear.
Each note should remain free from circulation grime, writing,
adhesive residue and prolonged wallet handling.
Corners should retain their original shape, while edges should not
show the softening associated with circulation.
Notes should not be washed, pressed, trimmed, laminated or altered
to create an artificial appearance of higher grade.
Minor characteristics resulting from printing, cutting, mechanical
counting, bundling or original storage should be assessed separately
from circulation wear.
Arrange the Iranian dual denomination UNC set by full Rial denomination:
10,000, 50,000, 100,000, 500,000 and 1,000,000 Rials.
Record the shortened Toman values separately for Pick 162 through
Pick 165.
Use individual collector-safe PVC-free sleeves with sufficient clearance
around the edges. Pick 165 may have a slightly different height from the
156 × 71 mm format used by several other transitional issues, so verify
sleeve dimensions before storage.
Keep the notes flat and away from prolonged sunlight, high humidity and
excessive heat. Do not fold, laminate, trim or attach adhesive labels
directly to the paper.
Record denomination, Pick number, signature, prefix and serial number on
separate album inserts to preserve the notes while maintaining an accurate
catalogue record.
The stock quantity displayed on this page represents complete five-note
sets. Availability depends on all five listed Pick types being ready in
UNC condition at the same time.
Individual serial numbers, prefixes, signatures or minor catalogue
varieties may differ between supplied sets unless a specific combination
is explicitly shown and guaranteed.
This five-note selection compares the conventional 10,000-Rial issue with four shortened-value designs. Identify each note by the full denomination and catalogue reference. The set does not claim to contain every issue in the transitional series.
